Faculty By-Laws Introduction
Cornell University policies take precedence over the School's policies, and University policies also cover many areas not discussed in the Faculty By-Laws. University policies are not restated in the Faculty By-Laws. Motions to change the Faculty By-Laws must be distributed to the faculty at least one week prior to the meeting at which the change will be discussed. The motion to change must show explicitly how the By-Laws will be changed. For example, if a Chapter is to be replaced or modified, both the old Chapter and the suggested new Chapter should be contained in the motion. In the Faculty By-Laws, references are made to responsibilities of administrative officers. Since the Dean can change administrative responsibilities, any such reference should be read as "the named officer, the Dean or the Dean's designee." Unless specifically stated otherwise, the word "Faculty" refers to the Faculty of the Samuel Curtis Johnson Graduate School of Management. The Faculty By-Laws were approved by the faculty on December 3, 1999. Revisions to these By-Laws will be made as necessary and changes will be documented in the Appendices; a copy of which will be available in the Human Resources Office for anyone interested.
