Cellular
Phone Policy
The Johnson School will authorize a job related allowance of $500/year for employees who often need a cell phone to be successful in his/her job. The employee should acquire the phone itself through the cellular provider; the School will not cover the cost for the cellular phone itself.
Cell phones will only be subsidized for those employees who are asked by the school to carry one; employees cannot self-determine if a cell phone is required. Need will be determined based on the following guidelines and must be approved by the Dean or his/her designee.
- The individual needs to be reached on a regular and frequent basis and often cannot be reliably contacted by other methods such as a desk phone. Examples include individuals who:
- are on call after regular business hours (in which case there will be clear agreement on when the individual must be available via phone), and/or
- are not close to a regular phone the majority of the business day (e.g. facility or audio/visual support), and/or
- regularly travel on school business
- The nature of the communication requires immediate connection and action on the part of these individuals.
