The Johnson School prides itself on an "open door" policy. There are no formal guidelines regarding protocol for office hours, but you are urged to be consistent with reasonable student needs. It is appropriate to schedule office hours in such a way that students actually benefit, i.e. Monday and Wednesday at 10:10 a.m. would not be good because too many students have classes then. Instead Monday at 10:10 a.m. and Tuesday at 4:15 p.m. would allow diverse access. How many hours is also an issue and depends on the number of students and the nature of access that your course requires. Many faculty schedule in the neighborhood of three hours per week and by appointment. The key is to be available for appropriate interaction.
