Hints for New Faculty
Experience has taught us
that as a new instructor, there are some things that you will either have questions
about or appreciate input from those who preceded you. Indicated below are some
suggestions that hopefully will help you in this new venture.
- Copies of exams from
the equivalent MBA classes that you might be teaching may be available in
the Library or electronically on individual course web pages. You may want
to refer to them and/or find them useful. Course syllabi are available from
the Faculty Support Aides or electronically on individual course web pages.
- If assigning projects
requiring use of the Library or the Computer Labs, notify the concerned parties
well in advance. Place copies of materials "on reserve" in the Library
early.
- Companies will provide
materials for classes such as Annual Reports.
Contact with most firms can be made using phone numbers from the Value Line
Reports.
- Course
Packets and/or Textbooks: The School does not provide reserve copies of
either for the Library. If a faculty member chooses to donate an extra Desk
Copy, if available, they may do so. Students are expected to purchase these
Course Packets. For every 17-59 copies of the Course Packet produced, the
faculty member receives one free desk copy. Publishers often provide desk
copies of Textbooks.
We are sure there are other
topics not mentioned, and if you would like to share your experiences with the
Administrative Service Center, we will add your input to the above information. Specific questions
dealing with enrollments, grades, exam schedules, etc. should be directed to
the Registrar, X5-9395 or the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, X5-7599.
For additional information,
please see Areas of Interest - Faculty.
We hope you have a wonderful
experience.
