Work at Home
(This is different from the University's Flexplace Policy)

Faculty and Supervisors are discouraged from asking Employees to do any School-related business either after hours or at home. Special circumstances requiring work to be done at home must have the prior approval of the Dean or his designee.

Faculty and/or Supervisors electing to hire Employees to work at home for them personally and outside their STAR allocations or using departmental funds to compensate them must ensure that the work expected is of a personal nature and will not be recorded by the Employee as hours worked under their regular Cornell appointment. Simultaneously, the School cannot be expected to provide equipment (e.g., computers, etc.) for use on work requested to be done at home or another offsite location.

If your Supervisor asks you specifically to work, you have the responsibility to question whether or not it is to be considered legitimate overtime or if he/she intends to pay you directly.
