One of the lasting legacies of our class is that we gave back to The Johnson School as we received our education. We gave back in diverse ways including taking leadership roles in clubs, running J.O.E., hosting Destination Johnson, representing the School in business competitions (and taking home top prizes for that matter), being class TAs and many others.
Even upon accepting our applications, we were still giving back as we presented The Johnson School with our class gift, which in itself reflected the diversity of the contributions of our class.
We gave back in two ways for our class gift:
The Class of 2007 Loan Forgiveness Program
Provides loan repayment assistance to Johnson graduates working in the lower paying public and nonprofit sectors. This program allows Johnson graduates to transition earlier to positions of civic leadership where an MBA skill set is extremely valuable. It helps the Johnson School compete for top candidates seeking careers in the public and nonprofit sectors by creating a program similar to those at our peer MBA institutions.
Currently, there are additional fund raising efforts underway for the program that reach beyond the Class of 2007. The first application round for a distribution from the program's fund will begin this summer. We're excited that someone will so quickly benefit from our contribution.
At the close of 2007, our pledges and fulfilled pledges to the Loan Forgiveness Program stood at (excluding matches):
- $21,749 in gifts pledged
- $11,939 in cash received
The Johnson School Annual Fund
In general, gifts to the annual fund are utilized to increase the depth and breadth of programs and curricula at the Johnson School.
At the close of 2007, our pledges and fulfilled pledges to the Annual Fund stood at (excluding matches):
- $23,741 in gifts pledged
- $12,531 in cash received
