Talk to Me!

I'm enjoying writing this blog, and a number of you have told me you are reading it and are pleased with the new web site. When you are inspired, please dialog back to me on the blog. That is the purpose, to provide information and allow you to comment or ask questions. Others in the class probably have similar questions and the online exchange can provide helpful tips. Jack and Suzy Welch in BusinessWeek come to mind. Last week the CMC held the Job Search Readiness program for your class. About 50 students heard what programs are planned for the year for your class.

October 16 - One of the first programs is a scheduled panel of alumni from the Class of 2002 who will discuss finding a job in a challenging market.

October 17 - NYC bus trip. We will match participating students with alumni in the same field. Depending on the number of participants, we'd like to set up two practice interviews for each student.

Extended Advising Staff: former faculty and deans have offered to meet with students seeking coaching and contacts. We will align students with these volunteers by field.

Professional coaches who live in the Ithaca area have been hired to work with students who desire intensive interview training. You can also work on other issues such as career focus or networking phobia!

For other programs, see the slides I sent to the class on Friday, September 12. If you're seeking a job in Atlanta, look for the item about Atlanta companies in the Off-Campus Job Search link of our web site's left side menu.

Tell me what's on your mind about the job market, interviewing, networking or offer negotiation.
Best, Karin
