Julia D'Souza is a mother of one and a professor of accounting at Cornell
University's Johnson Graduate
School of Management.
Julia D’Souza’s current research focuses on the potential impact of
accounting standards on rate-regulated enterprises. She explores determinants
of the economic and reporting choices of firms operating in a regulated
environment, the interrelatedness of these choices, and the extent to
which they are shaped by the characteristics of the firms’ various stakeholders:
regulators, consumers, and employees.
Her other research interests include quality of income issues, the
usefulness of accounting disclosures, and the general determinants of
firms’ reporting choices. Her undergraduate degrees were in education
and physical sciences, and she obtained a broad-based MBA degree prior
to focusing on accounting at the doctoral level.
