Diversity & Groups

BY INVITATION ONLY!

11th Annual Conference on Research on Managing Groups and Teams. This conference is jointly sponsored by the Stanford Graduate School of Business, the Johnson Graduate School of Management at Cornell University, and the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.

The conference will be held on May 4-5 (Friday and Saturday) at the Johnson Graduate School of Management in Sage Hall on Cornell University's campus in Ithaca, New York. Our aim in this conference is to advance the understanding of groups and teams within the organizational context. Each year the conference is focused around a different sub-area of groups research. The 2007 conference, and the companion edition of Research on Managing Groups and Teams, will focus on Diversity & Groups. The theme organizer and editor will be Katherine W. Phillips of the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.

Diversity results from the constellation of individual traits, characteristics, identities, experiences, and knowledge that individuals bring to a group. Although there is a long history of research on diversity, group researchers are delving deeper into the moderators, contextual factors, psychological processes, and sociological constraints that impact how individuals and groups manage the complexities of diversity in organizations. Our aim in this conference is to help promote research on diversity in groups by identifying and integrating various areas of research related to diversity in multiple disciplinary traditions.
