The primary mission of the Johnson School Investment Management Club (JSIMC) is to educate students about careers in investment management. The club serves as a forum for the discussion of investment-related topics and opportunities available in investment management, primarily buy-side and sell-side research. The club also sponsors informational field trips to Boston and New York City to meet with analysts from buy-side and sell-side investment firms. In addition, the JSIMC members act as a sounding board for Cayuga Fund portfolio managers to practice a “dry run” before pitching their ideas to the Fund's Investment Committee, as well as for first year students to practice Stock Pitches before internship interviews.

The IMC's weekly events include stock pitches, market pitches, and guest speakers. In addition, the IMC also organizes trips to visit top buy side firms in Boston and New York. Such events include corporate presentations, Q&A and informal networking activities. The Fall 2006 Boston trip was to Wellington, Fidelity, Loomis Sayles, and Cambridge Associates. The Fall 2006 NYC trip was to Citigroup, Blackrock, Tribeca, U.S. Trust.
