Capital Markets (Sales & Trading)
If you are interested in a career in institutional Sales and Trading, whether on the buy-side or the sell-side, the Old Ezra Club can help you achieve your goals. Most major banks and asset management firms recruit at Cornell. Traders transact a variety of products including equities, fixed income, currencies, commodities, and structured products. You may choose to narrow your focus to a particular product within one of these asset classes - such as equity derivatives or fixed income municipal bonds. The club officers will explain to you the differences between each of these asset classes and their embedded products.
Sales & Trading is a very lucrative career path that can provide a good return on your MBA investment. Most traders are quick decision makers and can transact multi-million dollar deals for their firms. A typical sales and trading summer internship would include a 10-week rotation through different trading desks at a major firm such as JPMorgan (see link below for more on a JPMorgan internship) or Morgan Stanley. The Old Ezra club will help you choose a sales and trading career path, offer training in preparing for the internship interview, and prepare you for the actual internship once you land it.
