SCHEDULE OF EVENTS FOR FALL 2008

 

GMA Kickoff (September) – Enjoy pizza and drinks as we kickoff the school year and update everyone on the exciting educational and recruiting events planned for 2008-2009.

 

Internship Panel (September) – Hear about 2nd year students’ summer internship experiences in a variety of industries and functional areas, and ask them questions to help you learn about all the opportunities that exist for GMA members.

 

GMA Passport Overview (September) – Learn about the events, being led by faculty and GMA Leadership that will help prepare you for an internship and career in general management.

 

General Management Career Overview @ Bausch & Lomb (September) – Gary Thompson will present Bausch & Lomb’s Momentum Associate Program and the wide variety of career paths, both domestic and international, at Bausch & Lomb.

 

Mentor Program Signups for Mentees (Late September) – Sign up to be paired with a 2nd year student with similar career goals and interests in order to get personalized attention and guidance for your career search.

 

Career Preparation Guide (Early October) – Exclusively for GMA Members, this guide provides interview tips, company specific questions, and an all-around, step-by-step process for getting the internship and full-time job you want.

 

Elevator Pitch and PAR Review (October) – Meet with 2nd year students to go over your elevator pitch and your PARs, which will help you prepare for networking opportunities, corporate briefings, informationals and interviews.

 

Cover Letter and Resume Review with Second-Years (Late November) – Bring copies of your resume and cover letters for review and feedback from both 1st and 2nd year students.

 

Citi Cards Day in the Life (October/November) – Visit Citi Cards in Long Island City, meet with Johnson School alumni who are currently in, or are graduates of, the Management Associate program, and learn about the many opportunities available at the world’s largest credit card issuer.

 

Goldman Sachs Operations Trek (November) – Visit Goldman Sachs Operations Division in Jersey City, meet with Johnson School alumni, and go behind the scenes at the operations of the world’s premier investment bank.

 

American Express Day in the Life (December) – Visit American Express in New York City, meet with Johnson School and Cornell alumni, and learn about the many opportunities in finance, marketing, strategic planning and risk management at the world’s premier credit card issuer.

 

Mock Interviews with 2nd Years (December/January) – Prepare for interviews in by refining your pitch, PARs, and communication and interview skills.

Lunch With Hewlett-Packard
HP recruiters hosted a lunch and discussion session about operations management at HP for club members

CMU Case Competition
A team of club members competed in the annual Operations Case Competition at Carnegie Mellon University.

Ithaca Beer Brewery Tour
Club members took a break from classes to tour this local brewery, learn a little about operations and relax with some free samples.

Lunch with Professor Thompson about operations management in service industry
Club members met with Professor Thompson from Cornell's Hotel School. He discussed operations management issues in the service industry.

Johnson & Johnson Lunch & Learn
Johnson & Johnson recruiters met with club members to discuss supply chain management at J&J. Afterward, the company hosted a lunch for club members.

Careers in Operations and General Management
Dean Thomas presented an overview of career options in operations and supply chain management. In addition, he discussed operations courses available in the Johnson School and other Cornell departments.
