Roche

My summer experience at Roche showed me that a well-run general management program can expand my skills in a multitude of directions, preparing me for leadership in an industry that I have always been passionate about. I spent the summer running a pivotal internet-based market research survey for a pre-launch stage medical product in the Market Analytics and Business Strategy department. This project and the other summer events allowed me the chance to interact with many people at Roche, understand the culture, and meet the senior leadership team. I am excited to return to this rotational program full-time, as I know that there will be a new challenge that awaits me.

Johnson & Johnson

I conducted an Activity Based Costing Study of the Revenue Management department for Johnson and Johnson’s Medical Devices Group and identified how much time they spent giving credits to customers (for errors in the supply chain such as short shipment of product) and the time they spent collecting money from overdue accounts. I mapped out the different processes the team, conducted a time study of the team and then made recommendations to improve the process by looking at the root causes of errors in the supply chain.

HP

I was a Supply Chain Analyst SEED (SEED is HP's acronym for intern) in the IPS division (IPS = Imaging and Printing Systems) at the Boise, Idaho facility. I worked with the supply chain department responsible for managing the production of the printed circuit boards used in LaserJet printers. I helped to develop a web-based system that will be used to facilitate the inventory planning and management processes for the printed circuit boards around the world.

McKinsey & Company

My summer internship at McKinsey & Company entailed two tasks. The first was to develop a financial model to assess the economic opportunity of a $400 million/year outsourcing strategy for a Fortune 100 client. The second was to lead a client team on a product development engagement that strove to achieve cost savings through methods such as design to cost, value engineering and supply chain redesign.
